Jeffrey M. Chase, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Chase received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and attended Medical School at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his Internship and an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Loyola University Chicago Medical Center. In addition to completing his Surgical Residency, Dr. Chase continued his medical education by pursuing Fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Thomas Jefferson University.

Throughout his education and career, Dr. Chase has received several research grants, honors and awards. He has made many professional presentations in his specialty and has published numerous articles. 

Dr. Chase is Board Certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is a member of The American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopic Association of North America, and is fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Chase is also a Founding Member of the Caribbean Orthopaedic Association.  He has provided Orthopaedic care to the residents of the Virgin Islands for over 20 years and is highly regarded and respected by his peers and the people in the communities he serves. Dr. Chase is the Co-Founder of Paragon Surgical Center and currently serves as its Medical Director and Facility Director.

Raymond Cintrón, MD

Gastrointestinal Surgeon

Born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Cintrón specializes in  Gastroenterology (Digestive) and Liver Diseases.  He graduated with honors from Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine in 1984. He was a Resident in Internal Medicine at Centro Medico in Puerto Rico and did his Fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases at the New York Medical College and its affiliated hospitals. Dr.  Cintrón has more than 36 years of diverse medical experience.  He also affiliates with the Roy L. Schneider Hospital in St. Thomas and is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center in St. Croix.  His duties also include training all levels of medical students, interns, internal medicine residents, and gastroenterology fellows.  Dr. Cintrón is Board Certified by The American Board of Internal Medicine, Sub-specialty Gastroenterology, and is the Co-Founder of Paragon Surgical Center.  He currently serves as Chairman,  Governing Board.   St. Croix Gastroenterology Center (drcintrongastro.com)



Kevin Stewart, MD

Ophthalmic Surgeon

Dr. Stewart is a fellowship-trained Ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and comprehensive eye care.  He has lived in the US Virgin Islands with his wife and children for 9 years.  After completing a BS in Biochemistry at the University of Washington, he continued his graduate education at Chicago Medical School, and the residency program at New York Medical College. Dr. Stewart completed fellowship training in glaucoma at the renowned New York University’s Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.  He then served as the Assistant Director of Glaucoma Services at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and was appointed Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at NY Medical College in 2007.  In various institutions in New York, he trained residents to perform cataract and glaucoma surgery.  He has authored numerous academic papers and lectured worldwide on the medical and surgical treatment of various eye diseases.

Jonathan Leon-Rosen, MD

Ophthalmic Surgeon

Dr. Leon-Rosen is a fellowship-trained Ophthalmic surgeon who specializes in functional, cosmetic and cancer- related plastic surgery of the face and eyelids, as well as comprehensive eye care.  He attended Stony Brook University as an undergraduate where he graduated cum laude.  He went on to earn his medical degree at The State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn.  Dr. Leon Rosen completed his internship in General Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami, FL.  He then completed his Residency at the world renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.  He stayed at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, completing a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery.  He is Board Certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology and currently divides his time between offices in Miami and the US Virgin Islands.

Carmen M. Quiñones, MD

Interventional Pain Management Physician

Dr. Quiñones is a Board Certified Interventional Pain Management physician who has been practicing since 2006. She is a member of The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP) and The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  Along with her Board Certification, Dr. Quiñones is also a Fellow of The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FAAPMR).

She completed her medical training with a Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City and an Interventional Spine and Pain Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  Dr. Quiñones is focused on studying the science of spine and musculoskeletal disorders.

She specializes in Interventional Pain Management modalities, including lumbar and cervical epidural steroid injections, facet joint nerve blocks, radio frequency ablations and spinal cord stimulators.

Dr. Quiñones is dedicated to enhancing her patients' quality of life by improving physical function and relieving painful conditions. She is also bilingual in Spanish and English.

Eric J. Stelnicki, MD

Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Specializes in Pediatric Plastic Surgery, Craniomaxillofacial & Cleft Lip Palate

Dr. Eric Stelnicki began his distinguished Plastic, Reconstructive and Pediatric Surgery career in 1998 and has made a positive difference in the lives of children and their families ever since.  He has performed thousands of surgeries on children and adults in South Florida and worldwide with congenital, acquired and traumatic physical deformities.  He frequently travels to Guyana, Honduras, China, the Caribbean and throughout Africa, where surgeons and hospitals are not easily accessible, to lecture and perform life-changing surgery on children and adults in need.

Dr. Stelnicki is the Founding Director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Program at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in South Florida. He collaborates with pediatric specialists to address each child's unique needs to deliver the best outcome. He focuses on empathy and approaches every patient through the eyes of a concerned parent.  His expertise, surgical skills and compassion for children and their families has earned him a reputation worldwide as a leader in his field.  Dr. Stelnicki has affiliations with 3 academic institutions as an Associate or Adjunct Professor.

Adam Shapiro, MD

ENT-Otolaryngologic Surgeon

Dr. Shapiro obtained a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Cornell University.  He received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and graduated from the Otolaryngology (ENT) Residency program at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.  Dr. Shapiro also completed a postgraduate Fellowship year in endoscopic sinus surgery as well as facial plastic, paralysis and rejuvenation surgery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Shapiro cares for patients with a broad range of ear, nose, and throat problems, and specializes in sinus and allergy disorders.  He is proficient in using the latest modern technological treatments and has particular expertise in laser procedures for sleep and laryngeal disorders as well as video endoscopic sinus and nasal surgery.  He is also an avid scuba diver and commercial pilot and has a special interest in ENT matters associated with these activities.  Dr. Shapiro is also an FAA designated aviation medical examiner.

Dr. Shapiro treats patients of all ages From pediatrics to geriatrics.  His professionalism and easy-going, attentive manner allows his patients to feel immediately at ease.  These qualities create an ideal environment for superb medical and surgical care.

Joseph R. Smolarz, MD

Dr. Smolarz is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist (ENT physician).  He completed his Residency in 2010 from the University of Texas – Houston Health Science Center. During his training, he had clinical affiliations at Memorial Hermann Hospital, a Level I trauma center, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, a large pediatric hospital, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation’s leading cancer treatment centers.

His experience at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center encompassed 15 months of specialized Head and Neck Oncology training where he learned cutting-edge techniques and worked alongside some of the country's most renowned and respected Head and Neck surgeons. He has particular interest in thyroid/parathyroid, sleep, paranasal sinus and salivary gland surgeries.
